About
I’m a Senior Graphic Designer based in Southern California, specializing in retail storytelling, brand systems, and experiential design.
My work focuses on translating creative direction into cohesive visual experiences that connect product, brand, and customer. From large-scale retail environments and showroom installations to campaigns, publications, and digital touchpoints, I approach design with both strategic thinking and attention to detail, ensuring ideas are not only visually compelling, but also scalable and effective.
In my current role at Brighton Collectibles, I lead creative across a range of initiatives, including in-store environments, seasonal campaigns, and quarterly wholesale showrooms that influence buying decisions across thousands of wholesale accounts. I collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align design with product and business goals, while also mentoring designers and contributing to the evolution of the brand’s visual language.
Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to work with The Walt Disney Company, contributing to environmental graphics at Walt Disney Imagineering and developing design assets for Disney Consumer Products. These experiences shaped my approach to storytelling, designing not just individual pieces, but connected systems that create meaningful and immersive brand experiences.
Outside of my professional work, I run a small creative shop, Akemi To You Studio, where I design and produce products such as stationery, stickers, and apparel. This allows me to stay closely connected to hands-on making, cultural trends, and the full lifecycle of bringing ideas to life.
I’m passionate about thoughtful design that feels both intentional and human, work that not only looks beautiful, but creates connection.
When I’m not designing, you can usually find me working on new ideas for my shop, spending time with friends, or casting a line at Mammoth Lakes.
